Digital footprint!

1) What is a “Digital Footprint”?
: the information about a particular person that exists on the Internet as a result of their online activity.

– What components would qualify as evidence of your digital footprint? Provide examples.

Evidence that qualifies for your digital portfolio are the links and websites that come up when you google your name. Some examples are your social media accounts, or any pictures that have your name attached will also qualify because they are easily found with a quick search. As long as your social media accounts are private, it will not show any pictures or anything you have tweeted. Any public articles about you or a friend or family with your name included will also pop up with a search of your name.

3) Discuss the THINK poster

I think the “THINK” poster is really informative and a fun way to explain how important is to really look and think about the action of what you’re posting or tweeting.

4) iPhone Discussion on Location Services
> Settings >Privacy >Location Services (on/off) > System Services > Significant Locations > Touch ID > WOW!!!!
– What are advantages or disadvantages of using a service such as this?
– Why do search engines have cookies installed on browsers?

Some advantages to having your location services on either on pictures you take are if you are looking through your pictures and want to remember where those pictures were taken, it gives you a quick map to show. Some disadvantages of that are that if someone were to hack into your phone, they would see the pictures, and some locations that you frequently go too. With having location sharing with family and friends some advantages are that if you are in danger, they have quick access with were you are or just to help with your general safety. Some disadvantages are if someone get’s ahold of your location sharing, they also have your location and could use it for harmful intent. The reason why websites use “cookies” is to get some information on the user reading and or using the website. Sometimes they ask you to put in a small amount of information so they can help make the website better use for you.

7) Padlet Activity

I really liked the way these two videos, both in there own way portrayed how to control and how your digital footprint works. The video with Michelle showed examples on the cons of having a open account on the internet, and it helped me have a better understanding of how to be safe. The second video showed just how much of our lives are online and documented, and that also showed me how careful you need to be online.
