1 how did the different materials react once dropped in the swirling water?
The food color get mix with the water very fast and it get separate equally.
The coco powder mixed slowly it did not broke up in to the water well and it get separate to side first.
The milk powder is more heavy than other it get mix well and broke down in too water fast and it get separate to the bottom first than to side.

2 did any material behave differently than the others?
coco powder because the other two materials will be mix in to the water completely but coco powder won’t there will always be some powder lifted on the water.

3 how does changing the speed of rotation affect the pattern?
the faster it get the faster the materials separate out and mix.

4 how is this activity similar to galaxy motion.
the faster the galaxy span the bigger it get different type galaxy have different shape and seed it also wheat different.

mutation story

Part 1 Alfi’s syndrome
I’m a gene locate in the ninth chromosome, during developing my protein has been missing. This proses had form alfi’s syndrome or it could also be called 9pminus syndrome which is me. In order to make things easier scientist called the part has been delete the “breakpoint”, the scientist are so rood right they changed my name to keep things easier. Whatever. I’m going to tell you something only at here, alfi’s syndrome is a very rare mutation, it only occurs in 1 in 50,000 births. Now do you see how rare I am.image1

The deletion could be a “terminal” deletion, a terminal deletion delete all the remaining genetic materials to the end of the chromosome is lost. there is another deletion that called “interstitial”, during this deletion genetic material will be lost whit in the chromosome. Alfi’s syndrome often occurs randomly, it have nothing to do with parents genes. And there is something that scientist creep me out. Somehow the scientist figure out that the bigger the deletion is the more symptom of the mutations will show. In order to find out this scientist need many people that carry alfi’s symptom, but alfi’s symptom is very rare where did the scientist find so many people with alfi’s symptom? People with me usually have hypertonia that is more pronounced and it will grow more as their age increase. It delays the growing of muscle gm00201bs1k9

Part2
1. What questions did I need to research in order to create my mutation story.
What is alfi’s syndrome
What is 9pminus
what does 9pminus do
how did alfi’s syndrome occurs
how did 9pminus occurs
how does 9pminus effect to body

2. what new or familiar digital tools did I try to use as I worked through this project?
I used google doc to type my story on at first because google doc have auto save and I can switch to other device very easy. And to avoid loosing the information I want from different site I take screenshot so I don’t get to loose the information.

3. What was the process I try used to investigate the topic?
however my mutation have two name I have to find out if they are the same mutation. Later on I look at many different sites and pick two sites that have most information to work on my story.

4.How did I verify and cite the information I found?
I tried to create a character that have personality like a gene inside body that doesn’t know anything. genes might not know what is going on with them so they are talking like innocent person.

5. How did the process of completing this challenge go? what could I have done better?
this is story making there aren’t many process to do. I could have done the explaining better cause I pertain I’m the gene so I think I didn’t explain it very clear.

pop can race

0401_1Hypothesis:

I think the pop can move if you create enough static electricity. Either rubbing balloon on human hair or rub fur on a balloon will work the best.

How will I test my hypothesis?

  1. I will grab a  balloon and a piece fur
  2. rub the fur on the balloon for 30 second
  3. place the balloon close to the pop can. Than the pop can get attract toward the balloon.

Observation:

The longer you rub the fur on the balloon more static electricity you get. When you rub the balloon on the hair it won’t work on some people’s hair. For example, when I rub the balloon on my hair it worked pretty well, but when Vivian rub it on  her hair it didn’t work. Also it is easier to create static electricity at place that is dry.

Conclusion:

Vivian and I loose the race at first round. It look like Vivian is someone that is hard to get static electricity. When we wear testing I was the one that is rub the materials on the balloon and Vivian was the one who rub on the contest. Every time I rub the balloon it work pretty well, but when Vivian rub the balloon it never worked.

Discussion:

  1. My hair and balloon also fur and balloon because this materials were gaining and losing electrons to each other.
  2. In the ones we tried Vivian‘s hair and the balloon worked least I don’t know why.

What was your Question?

How does different materials react to fire.
What was your hypothesis?

My hypothesis is that most materials will be burned and some will be melt.
What was your independent variable? Dependent variable? Controlled variables?

Independent   The yeast and hair they get direct burn

Dependent   The eraser was melting if temperature is too low it won’t happen.

The dish wash soap was solidified cause water in it have been evaporate
What did you find out? Was your hypothesis correct?

eraser melt, yeast and hair burns, but dish wash soap solidified which is different with my hypothesis.
If you were to do this experiment again, what would you change? Is there another variable you could test?

I will changed the materials to burn. For other variable I could test how materials react to different degree of fire.
