Part 1

A unique aspect of energy production are solar panels. Solar panels use sunlight and turn it into electricity to power the machines. Acording to https://news.energysage.com/the-history-and-invention of-solar-panel technology/#:~:text=In%20theory%2C%20solar%20energy%20was,light%20torches%20for%20religious%20ceremonies., people started using solar energy in 7th century B.C, people would use glass and the sun to start fires. Solar panels are more recent, they have been around for 15 years. When the sun hits the solar panel, a flow of energy is formed because electrons are moving around. Some advantages of solar panels are that they are efficient and eco friendly. By using solar panels, we don’t have to rely on harmful sources of energy like oil, fossil fuel, gases, coal. These sources are not good for us, animals and our earth, it is the main reason behind climate change. Another advantage is money. You can reduce your monthly electricity bill if you are using solar panels. Solar panels can also be life saving. If for example there was a power outage and you needed to use your phone because there was an emergency, you wouldn’t have to worry because you have got solar panels. Solar panels can store energy that can be used for later. They make a really good back up. Moving on to the disadvantages, for some that live in dark rainy environments where sunlight is very rare, solar panels are not reliable at all. Another disadvantage is that solar panels can be very expensive and take up a lot of space. Solar panels would not be beneficial for people who move a lot and for people who live in apartments.

Statement to Justin Trudeau

There may be some disadvantages of solar panels but there are more good then bad. Solar panels have a big impact on our earth. Solar panels turn light and heat into energy, so is its clean energy and it can help reduce green house gases and help the climate crisis. It would benefit Canadians health and benefit them financially. Citizens that rely on solar panels could save a lot of money. Yes, not everyone will find solar panels beneficial (based on where they live) but for the people who live in a stable environment that gets sunlight, they should have solar panels. Hopefully in the future more cities use solar panels. Not only houses but also schools, restaurants, offices everywhere! Now that we’ve found a source of energy that is nontoxic, and benefits Canadians why not take advantage of it?

Part 2

How do solar panels work?

What are solar panels used for?

When did solar energy start being used?

What are the advantages and disadvantages?

The process of investigating my topic was simple. I wrote down the questions I wanted to figure out. I didn’t really know anything about solar panels at all. I first had to figure out what they were and what they did. After I figured out what solar panels were, I looked through different websites and to see if they had my questions. I didn’t want to just search up my questions because I knew there would a chance of false information. Thorough looking through websites, I would make little notes of what I wanted to write about. After looking through several websites to make sure the information was accurate, I began writing. For the question, when did solar energy start being used, I couldn’t find that in websites, so I had to search it up. I got creative with my advantages and disadvantages, for some I made them up. I verified my information by reading several websites and making sure the information was similar.
