Headlines from 1982 proclamation of the Charter

I chose this resource because it shows a good representation of how much Canada has changed over these years.  They made this law so people would all be treated fairly and equally.  Canada is an amazing place to live in because it doesn’t matter what your cultural background is, you’ll be treated equally, it’s a place where you can feel safe and have the equal amount of rights.  If someone from the early 1900s viewed this resource that I picked, they would probably think I was crazy or something.  During that time period there wasn’t that much equality, black people were slaves for the wealthy and they also didn’t have any right to vote.  That’s why I think that there view would be a lot different from mine because of what it was like at the time.

This Terry Fox video is very motivational, it’s a good example of how strong and caring we are in Canada.  I picked this video because it shows a great display of how much of a hero he was in Canada.  His goal was to run across Canada and to donate money for Cancer Research.  Sadly his Cancer spread to his lungs and he had to stop at Thunder Bay, Ontario.  I think this resource is a accurate representation of what it’s like being Canadian because we run every year to try and keep the tradition going so we can raise more money for Cancer Research.  Someone from the early 1900s would probably have a different point of view of this video because all they really cared about at that time was there buisness and how much money they are making.
