We are now working on systems of linear equations. This is when you are given two equations and practically have to combine the two and use algebra to get X= or Y=. Such as an equation of 2x+3y=7/5x-3y+28, first of all the +3y and -3y cancel each other out and are called a zero pair. now we add what we have left which gives us 7x/7 and 35/7, we divide these both by 7 giving us x=5.

I learned about slope formula, we learned slope is rise/run and the way to find it is Y2-Y1/X2-X1. For example if I was given two coordinates such as (3,23) and (1,14) I would go 23-14/3-1 this equals 9/2, now if I divide this I get my answer which is 4.5

This week we learned about domain and range. Domain is the set of all numbers for the independent variable which is x, range is the set of all numbers for the dependent variable being Y. If you have plots across the X axis at 1,4,7 for example you would record your domain as {1,4,7} If you had -3,6,12 across the Y axis your range would be {-3,6,12}

This week in math I learned about area models. I really liked area models because I found them the simplest and gave me the right answer. With an area table you take an equation with two terms and create a 2×2 box, you take each part of the equation for a side and put a term above each box. Then you fill the box in like a multiplication table. Next you combine any like terms and write your simplified equation. The area model helped me as it was visual and very organized, this helped me to see what I was doing and feel more confident in my answer.
