Question. 1
How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.

Well, there could be negative things about you, and things u don’t want other people see like private information that people shouldn’t know which may lead to you losing a job opportunity or losing a scholarship.

Another thing is that when applying for a job and they want to check you for anything bad they can just search you up and it’s either u appear or not but this most applies when you’re applying for something like trying to get in a collage/university or jobs, pretty much it’s either loosing or winning when people find out what you have done and all the things you have searched and posted could effect life negatively but also positive.

Question. 2 Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

  1. Understand what you are signing up for: There’s a lot of information about privacy to take in. Think about the implications of what you’re sharing when you sign up for new services, or install new apps.
  2. Check cookies/clear cookies: Check what settings your browser have for cookies, find your browser’s “cookie store” and spend some time looking through it. Notice how many of the cookies in there have been set by sites you weren’t even aware of visiting… and then see whether your browser allows you to block third-party cookies. Some browsers offer this as an easy option, but there are also a lot of plug-ins you can use to help control tracking cookies.
  3. Understand what you’re posting/putting up on the internet: When you post something on the internet, it ’s out there forever. Deleting online content often only removes it from public view, it can be stored in archives and databases forever. Even deleting your account isn’t a guarantee that your content will be deleted. It may still be accessible through other means.

Question. 3 What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?

  • Well I’ve learned the dangers about deleting things and that posting unnecessary photos and how everything isn’t fully deleted and its just sitting in the app/website but it’s not shown to the public it’s just in the databases, pretty much all I can say is that nothing is protected in the internet and that’s what I’ve learned
