Animal Farm Propaganda

IMG_1672

The poster is well presented and shows several aspects of a good propaganda poster. The first aspect is name calling. On Mr. Jones, you can see hateful words such as: evil and abuser that will convince you that he is an antagonist. Fear is another aspect of the poster. It indicates that the side with Mr. Jones is a scary place and it will scare the animals, so they won’t want to stay with him. The third aspect is repetition. The word hell shows up a lot on the side of Mr. Jones. It puts the idea in the animal’s heads that being with Mr. Jones is a living hell. Plain folk is used in the poster two. There are multiple happy animals together and the animals that see this poster will be reminded that the happy animals were just like them. Similar to Plain folk is Bandwagon. By there being several happy animals on the freedom side, is portrays the sense of unity between the animals, and that other animals can join them. When you look at the poster you see a very happy side and a very unhappy side. When people see that, they would be convinced that they want the happy side. Who wouldn’t?

My Science App Review

I had a hard time picking what app is was going to use, but I came across an app called “SkyView.”

It’s a really cool app about astronomy, and it won an award for best science app of 2012.

My Questions were:

  1. Is it easy to find?
  2. Is it easy to use?
  3. Does it help you is multiple ways?
  4. Can you use it all the time?
  5. Is it easy to access?
  6. What can you learn from this app?
  7. An it help you in more than one subject

My Answers were:

  1. Yes the app was really easy to find. When you search up astronomy apps, it is the first one to come up in the apple app store.
  2. I found the app pretty simple to use. What happens is they use your location to see what (stars, planets etc.) are near you. then you can search a constellation or what ever you want, and stars will show up on you screen. then an arrow shows you where to point the camera to and you can see where that  very constellation is. At first I wasn’t sure what to do, but when i watched the tutorial, located in “help,” and i searched it up online, I realized all the amazing things this app could do for me.
  3. It can help you find lots of things in space and you can search them up, or you can just see what is near you at the time.
  4. I like this app because you can use it in the day, and the is a setting where you can use it at night!
  5. It is really easy to access everything, there is a menu on the left side, and you can do everything from there
  6. It can teach you a lot of things, like what stars and things are near you, and it even give you information about everything you search up. If you have a question about a star for example, just search it in the “search,” and it will tell you about it will even show you where it is located at that time.
  7. It can only help you inn astronomy, but it is narrowed down and that it good. Instead of being an “Okay” app with everything, it is a really good app, for only one thing.

I can totally see why this app  got an award. It is so cool and i can’t wait till it is dark when i can use the night time settings.

For sure i am going to use this app when we do Astronomy because i thinks it will be able to help me along with other students. I think i will be able to use some really cool things from this app.

This is what it looks like:

Chapter 1.2

Mass is how much matter is in a substance, and volume is how much space the substance takes up ( usually measured in L). Matter is anything with mass and volume. Mass + volume = matter!!! Simple. Chemical change is something that happens in matter. It is when two different substances are mixed or combined to create a new substance. Sometimes when the substances are mixed, they don’t create a new substance, but they do have some changes in appearance. That is called a Physical change. When you have one of the three states of matter ( liquid, solid or gas ), lets say “solid” and it turns into another state such as “liquid”, that is called change of state. The six possible changes of state are: solid to liquid = melting. liquid to solid = solidification. Solid to gas = sublimation. Gas to solid = deposition. Gas to liquid = condensation. liquid to gas = evaporation.

Matter is made up of a bunch of tiny particles, too small to see my the naked eye, or even with a microscope. There is space between the particles in every state of matter but the amount of space varies. In solid, liquid and gas, the particles move differently because of the space in between them. For a solid, there isn’t that much space between the particles so they can only vibrate. Liquid particles have more room to move around so they spread a part and slip past one another. This means they don’t hold their form like solids do, that allows them to take the shape of their container. Gas particles have lots of space between them. They are actually mostly empty space, allowing the to move freely. Don’t forget that all particles are constantly moving. The kinetic molecular theory describes how the kinetic energy (he energy of motion) changes. Physical properties are properties of matter that you can observe or measured.

This covers pretty much all of chapter 1.2 in the text book.
