Matthew story was very serious because they had to do there jobs that they usually do before the restaurants close, and also he had a vision that it was unsafe and should have stuck to his gut and the incident wouldn’t have happened
Brooke is girl in grade 10 who I met this year. She enjoys listening to music, travelling and just chilling. Brook doesn’t play any sports but she does cadets once a week. She is there for a few hours and learns/trains. Her family background is Canadian from her mom’s side and Pilipino from her dad’s side, and when she was younger she went to the Philippians to visit her dad’s side and ironically was her favorite place she has ever traveled to. She also loved to spend time with her grandparents because she didn’t get to see them too much but when she did she would go to the park with them and these memoires were very meaningful to her and her grandparents. Brooke’s dream place to travel too is Japan or Korea. When she isn’t traveling or spending time with her family she likes to go shopping at the mall. Brooke’s favorite store is H&M. When she’s home she likes to listen to K pop which is a Korean style of music.
In the short story Same the Athlete, by Stuart Mclean. Sam was introduced as a very anxious boy that is going into middle school and throughout the story he starts to gain confidence in himself. Sam is a dynamic character because at the start of the story he was very anxious, he was also very shy, and he didn’t have a sport like all the other kids. The narrator talks about how Sam has tried many sports but has failed to be good at any of them. The narrator is also saying how he might not fit in with other kids and receive the same amount of attention from the teachers. One example is that when he tried out for the soccer team, he didn’t want to be near the ball, he avoided the soccer ball as much as he could. I describe Sam as a dreamer because when his mom went out to buy him “fast shoes” he thought he would run faster and be able to play all these sports when in reality it’s about hard work and skill and dedication. When Sam was trying out for the girls field hockey team they needed a goalie, after tryouts Sam went home and his dad saw him wearing a skirt and he didn’t care because he was part of a team and that’s when Sam’s confidence went thought the roof because his dad supported him.
In the story “House” by Jane rule, Harry would like to have a wonderful life with his wife and kids. His wife Anna and the kids are really excited about buying a boat. With some convincing from Harry they realize that they can’t have both. When Harry convinces Anna that buying house instead of buying a boat would be the better option he thinks that when he purchases the house his life will be perfect for Him, his kids and his wife Anna. I don’t think that buying a house is the best decision for Harry and his family because he can’t afford the mortgage and bills. After he comes home one day he walks in on Anna and his kids breaking a wall down. The family starts to think about what else they can bring down, getting back there old, unconventional life. Harry’s epiphany was a wake up of what his life should be.
The biggest impact that has changed my life is when I went to Houston, Texas and we were stuck in Hurricane Harvey for 15 days
We originally went to Houston for a few days before our cruise and instead of going on a cruise we were stuck in a hurricane for 15 days. While we were in Houston there was so many people panicking everyone was in the malls buying extra clothes and extra blankets to stay dry and warm during this hurricane and all the grocery stores had nothing every store we went to was empty.
As I was outside just watching cars and cars go by I realized how lucky I was to stay in a nice warm hotel with my family, but that wasn’t the same for everyone else in Houston. So many families were getting separated by the amount of water entering the house and it’s not like they can leave the city because it most arears there 8ft of water. So many families phoning, signaling for help just for them to leave and go to a shelters just to be able to survive. When I went into my hotel room I looked out my window and all I could see from my hotel room was water, upon water, upon water. Everywhere you went there was water and mini tornados.
I started to think to myself after I witnessed all this, what if I was In this situation how would I protect my family let alone myself in this crisis. I wanted to help as much as I could but I’m only 15. So I turned on the TV to see what other people were doing to help, and they were on jet skis, they had big trucks that can going through this kind of water and were rescuing multiple families, everyone was brining canned food, chips, pop, anything that people can eat while there waiting at the shelter.
Everyone was doing so much to help this city but there was one fireman that did something incredible I still remember seeing this on the news, he went into the house got the whole family onto the boat and the dad told the fireman that there was a dog in the house and the house was almost complete full of water, without any hesitation he swam into the house found the dog after a few minutes of looking for the dog. But it just shows you that people aren’t doing this for publicity or to be like “hey I was on the news I’m so cool” they’re doing this to make families happy and to save these families.
In conclusion while I was there I learned that I’m lucky to have friends and family that do care about me. I’m also very thankful that I none of my family was effected like the others and Houston and this lesson while I was down there was like a wakeup call that you should never ever take your life for granted and every day that you are living you need to make the most of it because you don’t know when a hurricane or earthquake just appear.
Twenty-thirty years ago, racism was describe as black people were slaves for white people. The black people would slave after white people, they would do their work and wouldn’t get paid or if they did get paid it would be very little. They also had to work in the worst possible conditions like scorching hot heat, working in thunder and rain storms. It didn’t matter what kind of weather it was or how bad the conditions were, they were forced to work . Another example is that white people had power and would control everyone. White people would have an easier life because they dominated in population over black and Asians. Also, black people would get horrible punishments for not doing their task like getting whipped , getting separated from their whole family, not getting fed or even worse, getting killed.
Now a days racism is saying black people only eat at KFC because they like chicken or that all Muslims are terrorists. Also now a days people joke around about racism as a sense of humor like when we see a horrible driver on the road we assume that their Asian because they have small eyes, or when your with one of your brown friends you joke around about bombs or shooting because all over the news they assume all brown people are terrorist. The most common one I’ve heard is when there one white person and two brown people or black people they will say you can make an Oreo sandwich. At the end of the day it’s not good to joke around about racisms because not everything you hear is true and it can really hurt the other person feeling.
