I see him as a freedom fighter but it was very close, of course you could determine one side, but throughout the movie his objectives and reasons have been mixed, until the denouement where they were both resolved in one way or another. Revenge and justice, the reason V committed the acts he has, he took down the corrupt government which of course is a great leap towards freedom territory, yet at the same time, he killed many people and also endangered a lot more, for example the news station scene where he walked in with a bomb threatened peoples lives and eventually could’ve gotten people killed by dressing them up as himself, so you can clearly see he has unorthodox methods. Another note is that the people sided with him because they obviously disliked the regime. At the end of this discussion it really all comes down to perspective, I saw him as a freedom fighter but then again the movie was very biased so I could be completely wrong, but that is only my sentiment
