Desmos Art Function Card 2018

Desmos art function project

At the beginning, I created all the folders that I needed. Then I wrote a circle function for my face and I changed the coefficients and center. In the next step I wrote a semi-circle function for my right eyebrow then I reflected in y-axis for my left eyebrow. So, my main strategy was writing a function and reflecting it in y-axis for the other side (for the pair parts). But for the single parts I didn’t have any special strategy I just played with coefficients. Writing equation for my hands was very fun because I had a few problems with sketching polynomials but when I decided to use 7th degree function most of them were solved.
I chose my functions based on my portrait, generally I didn’t have any problem with choosing my functions but choosing the coordinates and coefficients was a bit challenging, but I figured them out with using symmetry theorem (y-axis and x-axis helped me in it).
The hardest part for me was writing functions for eyes and ears, it was challenging for me to write three functions that they’re sync with each other perfectly. I chose the reverse of semi-circle function for my ears and I had a “aha” on that moment.
I’ve done it without any help just I googled the main equation of ellipse for my eyes socket.
As I said this assignment helped a lot with understanding polynomials. And it was a cool experience and also a good practice, above all it was fun.
