DNA Candy

for science we had to create a DNA stem, following the TAC GTA TGA  – AT GC -, using coloured marshmallows, liquorice, and toothpicks. Each colour of marshmallow represented a different letter of the combination (T,A,G or C). this project was different way of learning but at the end it made sense. it was nice to have help from Olivia because she told me what to do and I made it, and it was fun but mostly because I ate most of the marshmallows. and they were good!

light lab proposal

a few days ago we talked with people in a school in the Dominican republic and what it was like living there. we learned that they use candles for most of their light but it tends to burn down house to often and the lights they do have it is hard to come across a battery for it. today we talked about our projects with another school that had done this before. as they were talking they said that their hand crank flash lights that the crank on it tends to break. so after we were done Gavin, Liam and I talked about what we could do and so we decided to make a solar powered flash light that they could take with them to work and charge it by tying the light/battery to their backs and Velcro the solar panel to his or her head. we will try to make the money we need by contacting a company that already does stuff like this or bake sales or something else
