Wave Phenomena

Here are three examples of wave phenomena.

  1. These are standing waves. Notice the points that don’t seem to be moving? Those are called nodes or nodal points

2. This is an example of destructive interference. The waves are out of phase and in turn, cancel each other out.

3. Finally, we have an example of constructive interference. When two crests or troughs meet, they combine to create a wave twice the sum of the original.
