RAC- Volunteering My Time

For my Rac, I chose to address someone by their name when I started talking to them. For example, when I woke up in the morning I said hey Jamie. The look on Jamie’s face showed that they seemed happy that someone used their name up front directly at them. It showed me that people take comfort in hearing their own name and it really makes the person feel happy. I felt way more confident in my communication skills and it made me feel like I was being very polite. When I started saying it more my cousin said that they noticed that they felt happier when I used their name they said they felt important and they started using it more as they wanted to try it out as well. Using peoples names before you introduce yourself could be very useful even when you are not trying to start a conversation. If you use someone’s name at a job interview or at a professional occasion it could show that you are a very mature person and want to set a good impression.

I really enjoyed this RAC and I think that I will start using it way more often throughout my day to day life.

Sphere task

When we took our orange we cut it in half to create a hemisphere. we took the insides of the orange out then ripped up the skin into little pieces so that it would fit into three circles with the same circumference as the orange. We found out that the entire surface area of the orange could fit into 4 squares. We came to the conclusion that the formula for the Surface Area is 4Pir^2

Political ideology roundtable

A few things that i found interesting were the fact that there are so many diverse beliefs through how the different ideologies view certain things like car break-ins and such. Our group came up with the ideas of spreading the taxes over the wealthy people and the workers of the company. We should be focusing on balanced taxes for all rather then higher taxes for the upper 1% of the population. I thought this activity really gets down to the bare bone of politics it shows how different cultures and religions and political beliefs can be. As well as in some parties some political beliefs can influence them.

The one thing that i found difficult about this is we really had to put yourself in the shoes of the political parties that were picked for us and play the role as that party even if we didn’t beliefs.

In conclusion I thought that this was a great assignment.
