Where I’m From
I am from a paintbrush, from acrylic and watercolor.
I am from the view outside of my window.
(Flowing, blue, feels cold as ice.)
I am from the rose bush, the tall strong trees, protecting those I love.
I am from vacations in Hawaii and laughing with all, from mom and dad and the Stephenson’s.
I am from the generous and the do it all’s.
From helping others to excepting all.
I am from the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea.
I’m from Canada, maple syrup and bacon.
From the time my cousin caught more than just a fish, and the scraped knees of my grandpa fixing the boat.
I am from the photo albums in the closet, the wrinkled school picture in my dads wallet.
I am from the memories, the ones that will be with me forever.
