Digital Footprint

A digital footprint could help me obtain better jobs in the future. Having a bad digital footprint, that contains inappropriate things, could result in people getting a bad first impression of you, without even meeting you in the first place. With a good digital footprint, people can see all the positive things you’ve done and said, which makes them automatically think of you better. No one wants a bad first impression, and a good digital footprint can make that first meeting a little easier.

The first way I could improve my digital profile is by adding things about me on my blog that represent me and the things I do in my time at riverside. This way, If anyone ever comes across my blog, the could see all my accomplishments and they could evaluate me on all the things I put. Following that, using social media could help me in the future. I could post things, with my name included so it’s easy to find, and I could post some things that I do in my free time. For example, donating clothes to a foundation, helping out others, things that I have obtained using my set of skills, and more. A third way is by getting a good word out for my name. For some people, you can search up their name and see awards that they have gotten. When changing my digital profile, I could get a good word out for my name so when you search me up, you can see my awards, things I have been involved in, and more.

In the explanation of this class, I have learned that digital footprints matter when going in for new opportunities. They are a way for people to see into your accomplishments, your skills and hobbies, your past, and more. A bad digital footprint can ruin future opportunities and give people a bad impression. Especially if your social media contains inappropriate pictures. A good digital footprint is something we should all work on as this is the future and we should all try and obtain the best version of ourselves as possible.
