Red Dress Day Painting

I have painted a painting for red dress day. Within the painting you can see a black and white woman standing on a road with a red sign in the background, relating to the highway of tears road sign. The woman is wearing a red dress and crying tears filled with the names of missing and murdured women and children. I made this painting so people can see it in the classroom and be reminded of red dress day.

I found the names on this website

Visual Safety Guide

If an oil fire happens, put a pot lid over it to extinguish it. As fire needs oxygen to spread and putting a lid over it will cut that supply off and extinguish the fire

If a fire happens, do not try to put water on it. As that will cause the water to lift the oil up and cause a mini explosion.

If you get a burn, only put water on it. Putting anything else will keep the heat in and the water will pervent blistering

If you do get blisters, do not pop them. As it is your body’s way of healing the burn and popping them will prolong the process.

Do not mix random chemicals together. As it might create poisonous gasses that may kill you.

When using chemicals, wash your hands after. This is prevent accidentally getting it into your eyes/mouth.

If there is a spill, wipe it up immidietly. This is so no one slips on it

If you are done using a drawer/cupboard, close it immediately. So no one accidentally walks into it and falls.

Do not try to grab a falling knife. If you do you may hurt yourself while trying to grab it.

When you get a cut, apply pressure on it and lift it above heart level this will minimize the blood leakage and make the cut more managable.

When lifting heavy things, squat before. Doing so will help you lift the object better and will not strain your back as much.

Do not try to rush/run while carrying heavy things. It may result you hurting yourself or dropping the thing you were carrying.

Do not leave perishable food in room temperature for a long time. Leaving it will cause the possibility of bacteria growing on it.

Do not use a can that is bulging or indented (unless you know you put that indent there yourself). Because those are signs that the contents of that can had gone bad.

If you accidentally break glass, use a damp paper towel to pick it up. That will pevent getting small shards or glass in your skin.

Do not leave paper towel waste near the stove when it is on. As it may catch on fire.

Every time you sneeze, touch your face or any other contaminated item, wash your hands. This is to prevent cross contamination.

Life in Death

This mask is made with papier Mache and fake flowers made to represent the two sides of me with one side being a plague doctor mask and the other being a field of flowers.

The Plague doctor mask side is meant to represent how my personality may look from the outside, scary, stoic and alien as I have a hard time showing proper emotions and bonding with people. The other side with flowers is made to represent my actual personality, with different vibrant colour and feelings randomly serrated everywhere like a wildflower field. The flowers also call back to the actual plague doctor mask use, as they would put nice smelling things like dried flowers and rosemary to drown out the scent of the dead.

Last week I have started and finished painting my mask and started to put on the flowers on it. I am planning to finish it this week by adding a little but more flowers and some leafs so I can make a present for my grandma.
