Acting 11/12: Newsletter/Calendar

Oct. 12, 2018 River’s Edge Theatre/Riverside Secondary School

Dear Parents, Guardians and Acting Students,

As you likely know, Acting 11/12 is a performance-based course for committed people ready to rip open the truth, within imaginary circumstances. At River’s Edge Theatre, we see resonant, live performance as a powerful, thought-provoking tool.

The Acting 11/12 class is now in rehearsal for The Spoon River Project, an exciting new play with many elements devised by the cast themselves.

This show will be performed during the annual River’s Edge Festival of Short Shorts, Nov. 22, 23, 24 (Thursday-Saturday, 7pm).

All actors will be required for each of these evening performances, as part of the course requirements. Call time is 6pm.

Also, this class is bringing The Spoon River Project to Heritage Woods Secondary for METFest, our annual district theatre festival, as representatives of our school. This event is Nov. 29, Nov. 30, Dec. 1 (Thursday-Saturday, 7pm). On one of these days we’ll be going to the theatre early for our technical rehearsal.

All actors will be required for each of these evening performances, as part of the course requirements.

I plan to order a bus to transport us nightly to Heritage Woods Secondary; please let me know if you’re willing to drive a group of kids back to Riverside on any of these dates (Nov. 29, Nov. 30 or Dec. 1 at approx 10pm).

BUT FIRST, all actors are required for the METFest Preview, Nov. 2, leaving Riverside in a bus at 3:15pm. You can pick up your child at Heritage Woods Secondary at 6pm. We will be doing 5 minutes of The Spoon River Project, and building a strong sense of community with the other high schools bringing shows, as well as with our professional adjudicator (Paul Moniz de Sa).

Thank you for supporting a quality Arts Education!
