What further knowledge will we Acquire about space when the James Webb Telescope enters orbit?

The James Webb Telescope is going to be the largest telescope ever placed in space, and it will be 100 times more powerful than the Hubble telescope. The Webb telescope is planned to be launched in the year 2021, and will be launched from Arianespace’s ELA-3 launch complex near Kourou, France Guiana. It’s beneficial for launch sites to be located near the equator, as the spin of the earth helps give an additional push. The Webb Telescope is so big that it has to be folded Origami-style to fit into the rocket, and will unfold like a “Transformer” in space. One of the methods that the Telescope will use to study the atmosphere is the transit method, which is to look for the dimming light of a star as its planet passes between us and the star. It will be able to cover longer wavelengths then the Hubble and will have greatly improved sensitivity. Leading the Webb to tell us more about the atmospheres of extrasolar planets, and perhaps even find the building blocks of life elsewhere in the universe. It could also discover something that we didn’t even know existed, such as new galaxies and possibly even planets that we could inhabit.

In this picture, we can see a diagram of how the Webb Telescope is going to fit into the rocket, as it’s so big it needs to be folded into the rocket. But after launch, and when the rocket has entered orbit it will shoot out and unfold into the shape of said Webb telescope.
