Socials 10 Human Rights Reflection Debate Paragraphs

Reflection Question: Do you think that governments todayReflection Question: Do you think that governments today should be held responsible for decisions and actions taken by previous governments?

Frist of all, governments today should be responsible for the past governments’ decisions and actions due to the fact that the present government should try to build on and improve from what the last government did because some those decisions and actions might’ve been the reasons that the last government might’ve been thrown out in the first place (especially if the caused really bad repercussions.)Second, it’s and it should be the current government’s goal to keep their population going progress-wise into a happy future while still acknowledging the past. Lastly, this will also teach future generations to acknowledge those decisions and actions so they can use those to make their communities an even better place to live. This is why today’s governments should acknowledge the decisions and actions past governments made.

On the other hand, there are some reasons why governments might not acknowledge the past governments’ decisions and actions. One is that the current government might not be in line with most or all of the past governments’ decisions and actions (either if the repercussions were good or bad) and might either not fully acknowledge them (which depending on what actions and decisions, might change how the government is viewed by everyone else.) Also, some of the actions and decisions (depending on the severity) of past governments’ might not exactly be on the current government’s list of priorities, making those decisions and actions not touched upon or addressed unless they should be. Lastly, a current government might not acknowledge decisions and actions of past governments because those decisions and actions are already helping the population grow and progress (though it only occurs with mostly the good and efficient actions and decisions that are already in place of course. If said actions or decisions are bad and not progressive, this should be when the government steps in.) This are some of the reasons why current governments might not acknowledge the past decisions and actions of former governments.

In my opinion, the current governments should acknowledge the decisions and actions that former governments did put in place. The common goal for most governments is to help their population progress, and one of the best ways is to analyze what former governments had done and evaluate their decisions and actions along with seeing how they affected the population. This way, the government learns from their mistakes and helps progress the country. This also provides the younger population knowledge of what people had done in the past, so when they help out externally or internally with the government. They learn what actions and decisions should be kept along with what actions or decisions should be amended or stopped. Which all of this in turn will help the population progress into the future. This is why I believe that our present day governments must realize what other governments had already done in the past.
