The discovery of DNA helped prove Darwin’s theory of evolution, by simply being that piece of logic that Darwin lacked at the time. Without the discovery of DNA he was unable to truly prove his idea of natural selection. Darwin had said that natural selection acts to preserve and accumulate advantegous genetic mutations. Meaning that over time species develop certain skills or forms that help their survival in the wild, these mutations then are passed onto their offspring. This changed scientists views on evolution forever. Because now with DNA to prove Darwin’s theory, we can better study and understand what certain mutations make us so different. Or how we could switch the mutations to better someone. Without Darwin’s theory of natural selection the study of evolution and DNA would be very different today and in the future.
