Rather than writing this blog post about something I bought that I thought was a need but now realize it was a want, today I am going to write about something that I thought was a need in my life for a very long time, and after forgetting about it for a couple years, now realize it was simply a want. (Because I can’t seem to think of anything that I regret buying that I can write about)

Being very cautious about spending money is a good habit that I am very proud of and is the reason to why there aren’t many purchases that I regret. The Nintendo 3DS was something I wanted to get for a long time back when I was in middle school. Thankfully, back then I already had a system set for myself where if there was something that I “wanted,” I would wait a month or so, and by the end of the month if I still wanted it, I could get it. Most of the time by the end of the month I would not find the item neccesary anymore, or simply forget about it. The 3DS, however, was a different matter. I wanted to get it for a long time, at least for half a year. My parents were okay with me getting it, and my grandparents were even willing to pitch in some money for this $190 gaming device. Most people would’ve bought it in this situation. Now, 3 years later, I realize that the Nintendo 3DS was simply a want and I am extremely glad I was able to hold myself back from buying it.
