A Fresh Look at the Periodic Table

Define

The problems we want to solve is we will make the new periodic table.

Discover

The problems:

What can we do to make the periodic table easier to read and learn?

  • The periodic table is hard to memorize
  • It is hard to read
  • Not enough color, making students unmotivated to use the periodic table

The challenges

  • The fact that elements can change from solid, liquid and gas.

This may cause problems when color coding.

  • Changing the periodic table, keeping in mind the elements and symbols.

 Dream

Big idea:

  • Alphabetical order
  • The colors that we can know that are solid/gas/liquid
  • Different shapes
  • Keep the color-coding technique
  • Organizing the periodic table into color groups
  • Keeping the metals and non-metals separated
  • Color coding for solid/gas/liquid

What info does the periodic table tell us?

It tells up about the element (metal/non-metal, atomic number)

Design

In our group, our plan is we make the periodic again and make easy to read. We make the periodic table like a cube.

Debrief

Improved:

  • We make solid go with solid
  • Liquid go with liquid
  • Gas go with gas
  • We draw an arrows, where is metal, nonmetal, metaloid and legend
  • We color it to so where is solid, liquid and gas
  • We make it like a cube

  1. Thanks for your explanation of how you used the solution fluency to rejig the periodic table. Media showing what your periodic table looks like would be crucial for your Deliver section. Also don’t forget to talk about on what you could improve in your Debrief section.
