Sam the athlete by Stuart McLean

Sam’s choice

If wearing skirt makes Sam happy, then does it matter if they’re for girls or not? In this book, Sam the athlete by Stuart McLean. Sam decided to wear his skirt to continue feeling like part of the team and to be more like the others. “Everyone on the team wears one” Sam says on page 71 and it shows that Sam wants to be part of the team for once since in the book he hasn’t seemed to be a huge part of most of the teams he’s been a part of in my opinion it’s okay for Sam to do something like that because really it effects nobody but himself and as long as he is able to handle being criticized if anyone does then he is completely okay doing it and he’s the only person who is able to say whether or not he can. In the book it also shows his dad talking about how he’s fine with whatever choice Sam makes which is a good thing to have since his family would be supporting him and probably make it a lot easier to be himself. If I were in that position (and wanted to wear the skirt) I’d probably continue to In the end it’s only a skirt and he should be able to wear whatever he wants if it makes him happy.
