Tech Team December Reflection

What are some things you have learned and/or tasks you have accomplished so far this semester? Explain thoroughly (Use videos, pictures, upload materials etc. as evidence of learning in your blog)

Some things I have accomplished so far this semester was being a part of the Tech Bootcamp in September, volunteering at the wave to help other students and  I have also learned so far this semester is how important of a role technology has in my learning through the edublog. After accomplishing my widget and plugins task and working on my Social Media project, it really has shown to me how huge of a scale technology has in our lives, especially in my education at school. For example, the search bar can assist in finding certain posts that students will read and learn from, enhancing student learning.

Also I have learned what a big role social media has in a tool for advertising and also how powerful it is through my Social Media Project. For example, our RapidEvent instagram is an amazing tool to advertise to our students and teachers events, clubs and spirit days but, it is also great for advertising to our community of how great of a school and how great our students and teachers are. We get to appropriately and effectively represent our school on a strong and popular platform, which is a new way I have learned to see social media as, instead of just a platform to show my friends what I have been up to. This project has also allowed me to enhance my communication skills as it is crucial for my team to constantly be talking and updating each other.

What aspects of your work are successful? Explain why.

I believe that my ability of being determined and my the skill of time management has led to my work being successful in helping other students and within our Social Media Team. When people in my classes need help with their devices, or my teachers with their projectors or speakers, I always am pushed and determined to find a solution to the problem. Also, within our Social Media Team, when coming to posting, or designing or designation roles I always try to get things done in a timely matter, and I think that my time management has led to me getting my posts & stories finished and uploaded, as well as my tech team blog assignments, on top of my four other classes and sports.

What aspects of your work are challenging? Explain why.

I think that making sure everything is running well on the social media and that everyone is doing their role is quite challenging because we don’t see each other often. Also planning time to meet with the group and get our goals done is quite challenging, especially with the semester ending and everyone being extremely busy with their own schedules. Since the social media project is already up and running and we are just adding things to enhance it and make it better, it is pretty challenging because we are doing it while trying to do more.

What steps did you take to overcome these challenges / what adjustments did you need to make?

I think the skill of flexibility has really helped me overcome these challenges. I have put in reminders in my phone for every Tuesday to remind me that it is my day to post. Also, I have made a bookmark for easy access to the announcements and have made ties with the leadership students for posting what they need out as quickly as possible.

Is there anything you can do improve? (with your approach to the project, or altering the project)

Being more specific and meeting more often with our group since our project is ALWAYS active. I think we need to take more action with the project to improve, as we have our ideas and plans all laid out. Also, we should meet way more often to get things up and running, to check in and figuring out how to put our new ideas into place.

Do you have any feedback or suggestions, as we move forward, that could help the Tech Team meet the needs of our school and staff / be more effective? (Provide specific examples)

I think getting the tech team more known in the school community could help the needs of our students as a lot of people don’t even know that we exist and what we do, and what our purpose is. We could do a RAP video to introduce our team or an announcement so that we get more exposure. Also, I’ve had some friends ask about excel and that they don’t know how to use it and only use it for one class. And I haven’t been able to help because I have never used it before either. All in all, I believe the Tech Team is doing a great job, just with a little more exposure hopefully we could assist and meet the needs of our school and staff more effectively.
