Persuasive Essay – Pro Technology

Technology is a blessing and has done so much for our society that we would crumble without it. As one looks around, technology is strongly involved within our day to day lives, creating a world that revolves around it. As you sit at home the average person is usually doing something with technology. Whether that’s watching TV, on your phone or handheld device. Technology is a blessing due to its medical and educational purposes, making easy accessibility towards communication, and its ways of creating relationships. As the year’s progress so many amazing medical discovers have been revealed, and keep being revealed as the years go on. Datafloq.com states that, “Technology has carved out a society where patients can have better treatment, better recovery, and improved lives.” Due to technology, doctors can save millions of lives globally. Educationally, the world has become more knowledgeable from ways of using sources, to open the mindset towards enlightening oneself through technology. One can see this from how it is used within the classroom. Students have access to an incredible amount of information just at their fingertips, making work easier and more advanced with updated information. From 10 kilometers away to 5000 kilometers away, or even from the other side of the world, we are able to communicate with people just at a click of a button. Individuals can never lose touch with someone or can reach anyone whenever they want, just by picking up their phone or chatting online. From communicating with others, many new relationships are created through sources such as social media. Finding new friends or partners, just by viewing a profile that describes a person you may have never met if it wasn’t for technology. With that all said, get out there, explore the world in a different way through a screen, and become a more educated and well-connected person by the means of technology. Without technology in our lives, so many things wouldn’t be the way they were today, and so many people wouldn’t know what was happening throughout the world in such depth. Technology is a blessing, and even if you haven’t realized it, you should now.

Capital Punishment in “Two Fishermen”

-P1: Write a brief history about what capital punishment is and its history in Canada. Referencing the short story “Two Fishermen” discuss how if the story was based in Canada when it might have taken place based on your knowledge of capital punishment.

Capital punishment is the act of ending one’s life due to his or her specific actions. The individual is either killed by, lethal injection, hanging,  electric chair, gas chamber and or firing squad. In Canada capital punishment started in 1865, for crimes of murder, treason, and rape. It was removed from the Canadian Criminal Code in 1976 and was replaced with a mandatory life sentence without possibility of parole for 25 years for all first-degree murders.  In the short story “Two Fishermen”, capital punishment was a topic the story was based around. It showed how it doesn’t just affect the person who is being killed but the lives of others. The story could have taken place in Canada due to it not following the rules of the USA capital punishment requirements.  Capital punishment has been in the past for quite some time now but sadly is apart of our history.

-P2: Also, discuss your opinion on whether Thomas Delaney should have been killed for his actions in defending his wife. Come up with an argument and three reasons why or why not he should have been killed.

In my opinion, Thomas Delaney should not have been killed for his actions in defending his wife because, his action came out of anger, and no, there should never be a right reason for killing someone and that also states that he shouldn’t have been killed as well. Thomas, who we don’t know much of, killed a bad man, who was affecting someone he loves and cares for in a very bad way.  I don’t think to give someone capital punishment for doing one crime is justice when the crime came from defense.  Thomas saved his wife and possibly many other women. I think that jail time would have been the more suitable decision in this situation.  People shouldn’t have the power to chose the death of others, and Thomas Delany shouldn’t have been the one to face that problem.

In this question multiply the equation by the denominator. Square root the 25 to get 5, as well as the denominator. Multiply the the square rooted 25 by 2, to get 10. Nothing can be simplified any further. I was stuck on this question because I forgot to square root the 25.

The Life of a Genetic Mutation

I am a genetic disorder, in which a third copy of Chromosome 21 is present in my cells. I am called Down Syndrome. I’m created because of an abnormal cell division, when the egg and sperm first meet. Parents of the child i have affected, are typically genetically normal, an extra Chromosome copy of me occurs by random chance. Life span for people who i affect can range from 50 to 60 years old, with proper heath care. The affect i can have on the body may be different then other people with me. Effects i can bring to the host are, Thyroid problems, hearing problems, congenital heart disease, eye problems, seizure disorder, bone, muscle, nerve, or joint problems, leukaemia or other cancers, immune system problems, development delay, and mental retardation. I, Down Syndrome can affect the hosts life in many ways. I make it longer for them to learn, understand, and slower for them to learn how to talk and take care of themselves. For some i make it hard for them to speak and hear, but in the time we live in now, people are getting past the fact that i have made a challenge on their body and are living happy normal lives.

During this project, i didn’t need to search up a lot of information, most of it i found all on one site. What I searched to collect information were, “What causes Down Syndrome”?, “Down Syndromes effects” , “How does Down Syndrome have an affect on that persons life”?, and “Down Syndrome”. Another way i found some information was, that i watched some Youtube videos about Down syndrome, and left one i peronally found the most interesting and inspiring. I learned a lot about Down Syndrome from this project, in which i found very interesting. What i found the most interesting was that having a child that has Down Syndrome can come by chance. I found the process of this challenge was quite simple, all you needed was good question to search, and it should have been easy to find your information.
