Week 8 in Precalculus 11

Tell:

This week in Precalculus we learned how to analyze a graph to represent a quadratic function . For example finding the vertex, line of symmetry, and X – intercepts, Y – intercepts.

Show:

Explain:

In the picture above I have shown a graph and labeled all the key information I have learned when analyzing a graph. Giving the definitions of each and then solving them.

Week 6 in Precalculus 11

Tell:

One thing I have learned this week is how to solve an equation using the quadratic formula.

Show:

Explain:

In this equation you need to start with the quadratic formula. Then figure out what A =, B = and what C = . Once you have those numbers, fill them into the formula. Using BEDMAS and going step by step solve for X.

Week 5 in Precalculus 11

Tell:

This week we started our new unit which is, “Factoring polynomial expressions”. It is a review from last year but a good refresher on how to do it.

Show:

Here is one equation I had troubles with.

Explain:

First step find two numbers that = 1 and multiply to 12. Step two place those two numbers in the middle where the x is. Step three simplify the numbers in the brackets by pulling out the common #. For the second bracket when you pull out the -1 make sure you change the signs inside (the part I didn’t do).  Both brackets should have the same binomial. Make the first brackets the binomial that are inside the two and the second bracket the numbers that you factored out.

Week 4 in Precalc 11

Tell:

This week I learned how to divide radical expressions.

Show:

Explain:

In this question multiply the equation by the denominator. Square root the 25 to get 5, as well as the denominator. Multiply the the square rooted 25 by 2, to get 10. Nothing can be simplified any further. I was stuck on this question because I forgot to square root the 25.
