This week in math 10 we learned all the different ways of writing slope equations.

A slope tells you how many times to move up or down and left or right another word for slope is “rise over run”

The 3 different types are:

1)Slope-intercept form- Is a very useful form that lets you know what the y-intercept is and what the slope of the line is. The constant is always the y-intercept and the coefficient beside the x is always the slope. eg.(2/5x+5=y)

2)General form (useless form)- With this form it is pretty useless, you have to switch this form to slope-intercept form to make it useful, You know it is in general form if it equals 0, has no fractions and has a positive leading coefficient. eg.(2x-5y+25=0)

3)Point-slope form- Is useful for giving you a nice point it also works for points that are not directly on a intercept. This form is pretty useful because it still tells you the slope and y-intercept. eg.(2/5(x-5)=y-7)

When converting the forms weather its slope-intercept to general form or point-slope form to general form, algebra is always involved, you have to know how to isolate variables especially the y variable. It also makes things easier when you try to keep everything positive.
