Math 10 Week #5

This week, I learnt how to convert within the imperial measurement system. You can convert miles, yards, feet and inches. Miles can be converted to yards, yards to feet, feet to inches and vice versa.

If you are converting miles into yards, you multiply the number of miles by 1760. (Example: 3 miles=5280 yards -> 3\cdot1760=5280) To convert feet into miles, you divide the number by 1760. (Example: 5280 yards=3 miles -> \frac{5280}{1760}=3) To convert yards to feet, you multiply the amount if yards by 3 and to convert feet to yards you divide by 3. If you want to convert feet to inches you multiply by 12 and to go from inches to feet you divide by 12. These are the numbers you use because there is 1760 yards in a mile, 3 feet in a yard and 12 inches in a foot.
