The lab I chose to reflect on for the April reflection was the chicken parm we made. I chose to reflect on this lab because it was most similar to what I would generally make at home. I cook many meals for my family, generally 2 or 3 a week, and I make a lot of chicken meals. This helped me to expand the recipes that I will consider making for my family. I really enjoyed making this lab because it was more difficult than most labs. I also liked that we were working with “potential hazards”, this was more similar to what most of us would eat at home. I unfortunately did not get to enjoy this lab, as there was a grade 12 event on that day. At the end of the chicken cooking step, I wasn’t super happy with it because it was sticking to the pan a lot, as well as it was slightly burnt on the bottom. I think our group worked really well on this lab. We usually are very efficient and can get our labs done quite quickly, and despite this being a more difficult lab, we were able to get it done quickly and well. If I was to do this lab again, I would probably use a non stick pan and/or more oil, to prevent sticking. I also think we had the heat up too high for much of the chicken cooking, which could’ve led to the sticking/burning.
Overall, this was a really great lab that I would definitely consider making again. Based on the reviews from my group members, it turned out really well and they enjoyed it immensely.
It’s too bad you weren’t unable to enjoy the food, but you have explained your process very well. Hopefully you can try this out!
