Luminary Process Journal Week 3

Putting my mask disaster behind me for now, I had to get a head start with my luminary maquettes. I’ll dedicate Fridays to my mask, but it surely won’t take the whole class to get good progress each week.

One day after school, I stopped by my grandparent’s house. Naturally, I dug through their trash and found a suitable tin can which looked perfect for what I needed, I brought it to my grandfather’s workshop to cut a hole in it, which was harder than I had anticipated, slowly and steadily, however, I had punctured the little thing and now I could just cut a circle around it. I came in one day after school to draw my pattern on some translucent paper, it was quite arduous but I’m happy with the result, some Improvements can definitely me made, ergo, the circle isn’t centered, but I borrowed an even bigger tin can from my job, which will leave more room for detail and precision.

I’ve yet to find any more ideas I’m actually considering, my second maquette will be of paper, it’s no longer Halloween, although I do like the idea of a haunted house, in which the windows have that orange flicker. That should be a lot easier, black construction paper, tape, scissors, patience, that’s all I’ll need for that. I do wish I could come up with something more abstract and personal, but I keep drawing blanks. I will ponder more during the week and hopefully start my clay slab next week.
