The Friday Everything Changed

The Friday Everything Changed!

  • Why were the boys upset at the Idea of the girls carrying the water?
  • The water container symbolizes this present reality for these children. This present reality implies flexibility, and for this situation being allowed to leave school for 30 minutes to go get the water. In this time men were given these rights more unreservedly than young ladies. For these rights to be given to a young lady is uncommon and a major ordeal. The young men feel it’s their inherent right to take the water container, and nobody ought to take it away.
  • What strategies do the boys use to pressure the girls to give in? How do the girls react?
  • Caution technique is the essential methodology the boys used when endeavoring to influence the girls to change their lifestyle. From undermining the girls to going correspondingly as physically harming them. The girls stood
  • together to principally secure Alma, so their systems were unsuccessful.

Elements of Fiction

  • Who is telling the story? What do the girls think of Ms. Ralston and the conflict over the water? From what point of view is the story told?
  • Alma’s seat mate is the main individual point of view Narrator. Before the incident started the narrator communicated how both Boys and Girls respected Ms. Ralston, yet for altogether different reasons. The girls respected how lovely Alma is, and wore leggings and loafers consistently. Following this the girls look at how Ms. Ralston seems to not think about the whole level headed discussion between the boys and the girls.
  • What is the setting (provide Evidence) How does the setting intensify the conflict? What kind of conflict is it? (Person vs Person—Person vs Self—Person vs Society) provide evidence for each conflict?
  • I believe this was not to long after second war (World War 2). The story is either told from inside the school or out on the school’s baseball field. The boy’s vs the girls. Amid this time setting I envision it is unprecedented for this to happen.
  • Who is the Protagonist? How do you know?
  • The protagonist is Alma. Because Alma was the first to step up and challenge the boys.
  • In what way has everything changed on that Friday? What is the significance of Ms. Ralston’s action in the last paragraph? What is the message/ theme the author is exploring?
  • The idea of the story is to show that both gender is equal. On that Friday the thought that the boys are all more physically ready to convey the water container changed, and showed that girls can do it too. The other message is that to “Never give up on the things you want until the End”
