For my COL project I chose to do Tyler Mott. He is a Hockey player on the Vancouver Canucks. He plays left wing and he was born on March 10, 1995. Mott is 5 foot 9 and weighs 191 pounds. He is from st Claire Michigan and he played college for the Michigan Wolverines. Tyler is very important to me because he works so hard in games and i admirer  his game. he is tiny just like me and when he was younger he struggled with depression. he started his career in 2016 with the Chicago black hawks, then a year later the Canucks picked him up he hes been playing for them ever since. Tyler isn’t a goal scorer he is a 4 line grinder which is viddle to a successful NHL team. he started to get into Hockey because his brother started playing and he was inspired by his brother. tyler has alwased loved playing the game.

How do Cells Multiply

For the final project of science 9 we have learned about cellular   reproduction and mitosis and meiosis.

Sexual Reproduction:

Sexual reproduction is a a type of reproduction that involves a complex life cycle. The cells have a single set of chromosomes and a diploid phase composed of cells with a double set of chromosomes. During sexual reproduction the male sperm may be placed inside the female’s body for internal fertilization. The sperm and eggs may be released into the environment for external fertilization. Examples

Asexual Reproduction:

Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction by which offspring arise from a single organism and they inherit the genes of that parent. It does not involve the fusion of gametes and almost never changes the number of chromosomes.

Types of asexual reproduction:

Binary Fission: Single cell organisms splitting into identical properties.

Fragmentation: part of an organism breaks off due to injury.

Budding: Detach to from a separate organism.

Vegetative Reproduction: Special cells in plants that develop into structures that from new plants.

Spore Formation: single cells that can grow into a whole new organism.

Mitosis

Mitosis is a part of the cell cycle where replicated chromosomes are separated into two new nuclei. The cell division gives rise to genetically identical cells in which the number of chromosomes is maintained.

Examples:

In unicellular organisms such as bacteria, mitosis helps in asexual reproduction. Another example of the no nuclear organism is Amoeba. An amoeba uses cell division for the production of new individuals.

Meiosis

Meiosis is a special type of cell division used by sexually reproducing organisms to produce sperm or egg cells. It involves two rounds of division that ultimately result in four cells with only one copy of each chromosome.

What is the difference between Meiosis and Mitosis?

What is the difference between external and internal fertilization?

external fertilization: This type of fertilization is common with animals that live in water and with plants that live in moist environments.

internal fertilization: This type of fertilization is common with birds, mammals, and flowering and cone-forming plants.

How does the embryo develop?

Embryonic development takes place during the first eight weeks after fertilization. During this time the embryo develops. Its cells divide constantly and tissues and organs form. During the first week the single fertilized cell develops into a mass of many cells. This mass of cells then hollows out and is called a blastula.

What happens during fetal development?

After the first eight weeks of development the embryo is called a fetus. During fetal development the organs and parts of the body continue to develop. The body adds a great deal of weight. At birth the human baby is made up of trillions of cells.

Modeling Mitosis

Prophase: Nucleolus disappears and spindle fibers form

Metaphase: Chromosomes align on equator of cell.

Anaphase: Spindle fibers pull sister chromatids to opposite pole of cell

Telophase: Spindle fibers disappears and a nuclear membrane forms around each set of chromosomes.

Edible DNA

1. What is DNA?  DNA  is a molecule that contains organism to develop, live and reproduce.

2. What DNA does? DNA contains the instructions needed for an organism to develop, survive and reproduce. To carry out these functions. DNA sequences must be converted into messages that can be used to produce proteins.

3. How it copies itself? DNA replication is the process by which DNA makes a copy of itself during cell division.

Currents from the kitchen

1. Prediction- My prediction is that the lemon will have the highest voltage because it is a citrus fruit and it is sour so i think if its sour it will have voltage.

2. At first our bulb didn’t glow up because the wires were  broken but as soon as the wires we’re fixed we got the bulb to glow up.

3. I can use this in my everyday life by charging my phone with the circuit instead Of the light bulb. I think this can be a very useful thing in the near future.

4. My prediction was supported becuase I said that the lemon will have the highest voltage. The max the lemon got was 7 or 8 volts.

5. New questions for the experiment

1. Would a lime have more or less volts than a lemon?

2.

Adaptive Technology Proposal

1. We Skyped Tim who has Huntington’s  disease. We Skyped Tim because he wants to know how we can help him make life easier for him. When I first saw him I thought he would be worse than he was. He wasn’t perfect. We had a bunch if questions for him to help him. He gave us some ideas to talk about to help him. He said that the biggest thing was the TV remote. He said that  there was too many buttons on the remote. So we came up with and idea to make the controller only a couple of buttons. He was with someone on the Skype chat. It was his daughter Nikola to help him here all of the questions we had. It was a very exciting and memorable experience. I enjoyed every second of it.

2. The idea that our group came up with was the TV remote with only a few buttons on it. We chose this one to focus on because he uses the TV so much that it would be a very useful thing to have. We were thinking to have a button for the power, a button for for the channels, a button for the volume and a button for the numbers on the remote. I think we could do a lot of it on our own but we might have some trouble putting it together. We could get somebody in power tech in our school is somebody how can do these types of things. We also came up with som other ideas like a pen holder which he could use to help him draw and a pen ball to help him write. We chose these things because he talked a lot about them in the Skype chat.

3. For my group to make the TV remote we would need an old tv remote with some new wiring. It doesn’t really say a lot about my topic other than some pictures. I think it would help if i knew how to wire the remote together. Also it would help if I knew how to draw because i could design the remote for Tim. You can also buy simple remotes online but i am not sure if they would work.

4. I think in my blog post I could work on my information about the TV remote. Although their wasn’t much information just a lot of pictures. Also I think I could work on my summary for the skype chat because I had to much information in it.
