1. How might your Digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least 2 examples. I think it can affect your job that you want because If you post something bad a long time ago it doesn’t go away even if it was 10 years ago. Also some university’s might not let you in even if you have the best grades if you are a bad person they wouldn’t want you there.

2. Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe. You should think to yourself is it nice and are you making fun of somebody. Also you have to think that it will stay on their for ever even if you delete it. And if you hear any rumours going around you should never post it becuase most of the time it is not true and if it is true it is really hurtful no a mean thing to do.

3. What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go by telling them? I have learned that anything little thing you post can be tracked and it could effect your dream job in the future. Also think before you post which I think is the most important rule. And make sure your post are kind, true and helpful.

Science Safety

Finally my first Science class of the year! I have been waiting for this moment all Summer. I sit down in a chair beside my best friend. Then our teacher came in and told us that we were going to be doing a lab on the first day. I got so nervous. He said that we should know all the equipment names and how they are used. I looked to my best friend beside me and both of us started sweating. As we started our teacher said that we should get to our lab and find a triple beam balance and I was thinking to myself how should I know what that is. Then our teacher asked if anybody knew what that was and nobody put their hand up so he decided to call on me. I said I didn’t know what it was so I said isn’t it used to measure mass and grams. He said that’s correct. I felt so proud of myself.

After we weighed some objects our teacher said since we were behaving so well that he would give us another bonus lab. Everyone was so excited but this one he said was dangerous and if we weren’t careful we could seriously hurt ourselves. So our teacher told us to get our safety goggles on which is used to protect your eyes if some chemical were to splash in to them. We got out our Bunson Burners, which is a pice of equipment that produces a single open gas flame. We put that on our ring stand which is used to keep your Bunson Burners at rest so they don’t go on the table and burn the table. After we started the flame, a female student went too close to ours and because she didn’t have her hair tied back, it caught on fire and she was running around. Everyone in class was yelling at her to go under the emergency shower so she did and her hair was a disgusting black. After we finished the lab, the glass beaker was still hot so we had to use beaker tongs which is used for handling hot beakers. The next day in science class some kids asked if I wanted to play catch with a beaker and I said no because I didn’t want to get in trouble and they were making fun of me because I didn’t want to get in trouble. After they ended up breaking it and they had to pay for the whole thing. Science safety is something you always need to be aware of.

I am excited to be at Riverside because I am looking forward to playing school sports like soccer. I am looking forward to making new friends and hope I have classes with my old friends. I am excited to take classes like Science because I want to become a physiotherapist when I am older. I am also looking forward to Physical Education because I like to get exercise and I love playing sports. I am glad that I joined the hockey academy at Riverside Secondary because hockey is my favourite sport.
