Neuron Communication Blog Post

Neurons have three parts. Dendrites, axons, and axon terminals. These together help communication and integration of the body and mind.

  • Neurons communicate by an electrical impulse that triggers the release of neurotransmitters from the axon into the synapse. The neurotransmitters cross the synapse and are received by the receptors on the dendrites. Once the dendrites receive the message they processed and move on.

The function of the synapse is to transfer information from one cell to another

  • Exocytosis releases the neurotransmitters from the axon
  • If the action potential is high enough in power then it will trigger an action potential, if it is not then the action potential does not get triggered.
