My digital footprint

I think it can really affect your digital footprint in negative and/or positive way. In my opinion in 2019 everyone has a digital footprint. Like the video we watched it starts when you are born or even before you are. I think it can affect you in a negative way because lets say you post something on Instagram with racial slurs or bringing someone down. As soon as you post it you can’t take it back because people have already seen but not only that after you take it down from page is it really ever gone? Through all the technology and stuff e have now people can easily bring stuff up from your past that maybe you aren’t proud of when you or trying to get into schools or get a job later on in life. And we’ve all seen this happen to important people like what happened to Ala Buzreba. It can happen to anyone. But saying all that it can have a positive affect. Like the video we watched about Bethany, she’s making a positive affect and when people search up her name all these positive things will pop up. I think thats really important because she will get into that school before the person who posted a racist comment in high school and they found behind the scenes.

I think a good strategy is too think before you post. It doesn’t soundĀ  like a lot but it really is. “Is this going to hurt someone” “is this kind” “is this necessary” These are all questions I find myself thinking about when im about to post. I have even found myself thinking about these and not pressing post. I think another good one is just use common sense. If you know its going to hurt someone or multiple people what the point? Its just going to come back and make you look bad. Are you using offensive words, racial slurs or even swear words. Because if you are you are going to offend someone and that can be brought back to make you look bad.So if you have anything like that you probably shouldn’t be posting it.

I have learnt that what you post matters. It not only affects you but the people around you and more importantly it can affect your future drastically. Something you post even when your my age just 13 years old in 9th grade can be brought up against later on in life when you are trying to get a job or getting into your dream school, but it can all just be taken away like that. I would tell people by informing them on all the facts I was informed with and definitely let them know that their choices they make now can affect them for a long time. So think before yu post so you dont ose that job and you get into that school!
