How does one deal with a loss?
In the Sad Book, written by Michael Rosen, Michael writes about his emotions when his 18-year-old son Eddie passed away due to Meningitis. His son brought him a lot of happiness in his life, and now that he’s gone Michael has been struggling to be happy. To cope with his sadness Michael thinks about all the good memories he’s had in his life and his favourite things to do, such as celebrating other people’s birthdays and the fun activities he used to do with Eddie. He thinks about these thoughts constantly to remain happy. He doesn’t have anyone in his life to talk to about his problems with, so he keeps emotions to himself. Humans have emotions and experience the need to communicate with others. This book teaches us that everyone can experience sadness, and the best way to overcome it is to get help and talk to someone.
