QUESTION: $\frac{1}{2} + \frac{3}{4} - \frac{2}{3} \times \sqrt{4} =?$

step 1: $\frac{2}{3} \times \sqrt{4} =\frac{4}{3}$ or 1 $\frac{1}{3}$

$\frac{1}{2} + \frac{3}{4} - \frac{4}{3}$

step 2: $\frac{1}{2} + \frac{3}{4} = \frac{5}{4}$ or 1 $\frac{1}{4}$

$\frac{5}{4} - \frac{4}{3}$

step 3: $\frac{5}{4} - \frac{4}{3} = \frac{-1}{12}$

ANSWER: $\frac{-1}{12}$
