Potassium Oxalate

What is it? Potassium oxalate is a strong dicarboxylic acid occurring in many plants and vegetables. It is produced in the body by metabolism of glyoxylic acid or ascorbic acid. It is not metabolized but excreted in the urine.

What is it used for?It is used chiefly as a bleaching agent and in medical tests as an anticoagulant.

What does it look/smell like? Potassium oxalate is an odorless white solid. Sinks in and mixes slowly with water.

Out of all the safety symbols it means toxic/poisonous with immediate effects.

It has a moderate Heath risk.
