Digital Footprint
1.How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.
Digital footprint may directly and indirectly affect my future opportunities.
-Now that technology is advanced, many people will look for jobs online, and some employers will even hire employees online to check their background. At this time, if employees leave some bad rumors on the Internet or something that affects the company, this may also have a deep impact on future work. These examples have appeared in different professions, such as actors, entrepreneurs or some famous people, etc.
-With the development of social media communications, cases of cyberbullying are gradually increasing, and cyberbullying may affect a person’s life. One of the reasons for cyberbullying is because of digital footprints, information left after searches, and various gossip news spread quickly on the Internet, and these messages contain some untrue rumors, this may cause among the public opinion of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying has caused many suicides, these things are affecting the future of many people. Beside that, The National Bureau of Statistics conducted a study of about 20,000 young people aged 10 to 24 between 2012 and 2013, and found that 56% of them spend three hours a day using social media including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, and 11% of them symptoms of mental problems after examination.
2.Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
-First, you must set a secure password for each social media account.
-Second, set up firewalls and anti-theft software in mobile phones and computers.
-Third, check the phone regularly to prevent someone from stealing important information.
3.What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students?
How would you go about telling them?
-I have learned the importance of network security , don’t ignore every detail, so as to avoid some network accidents in the future causing major losses.
-I will try my best to make other students aware of the importance of network security and always remind them to be careful .I hope that neither I nor other students will be harmed or lost due to the digital footprint.
