For the Birds
It took only a few moments for the sun to call out
With it shining its light, the birds were wandering
One lonely bird found its place to perch
An empty power line, he stood pondering.
Moments went by before the others appeared
One by one starting to wrestle
The lonely bird was no longer solo
But eventually they started to nestle.
Birds on the ground
Expected perfection
The big bird was crowned
Denied all affection
With all of her individuality
She came out on top.
Along came a bird who didn’t look quite like the rest
She was taller, bigger and friendlier too
The flock wasn’t so keen on her presence
But the big bird didn’t have a clue.
When she snuggled herself onto the line
With it no longer holding all their weight
The birds slid towards her
They began to peck her feet in anger, even more filled with hate
Birds on the ground
Expected perfection
The big bird was crowned
Denied all affection
With all of her individuality
She came out on top.
Eventually, they plucked all of her toes and she fell hard
But her weight caused the rebound of the others
Soaring in the air, the little birds fell to their doom
Resulting in the loss of all their feathers.
Confused and upset
All the little birds lost all their high ground
Letting the big bird wallow in her greatness
She made them all look like clowns.
