Wall of Pride Team:
Briefly describe your new and improved idea, by incorporating ideas and/or feedback.
The new and improved ideas include ways of making the “Wall of Pride” at Riverside accessible, not shown as an “add-on”, having others in the school community kickstart this process, and a lot more! First off, we will make it a touchscreen wall of TVs, making it a cool way to see biographies of different people over the years, possibly exhibiting their photos, why they are being recognized, etc. As well as, the wall would be placed in a visible and populated area so more people are aware that there is a Riverside Wall of Pride resulting in a greater interest. Secondly, we would need multiple people (group) to kickstart the project when the base is created, meaning for example, at first we would announce or post on the RSS Instagram to get the word out of a Wall of Pride being made, then include in the announcements, Instagram post or even on the RSS website, a link to nominate and/or apply to be on the wall (a set criteria/application would have to be made). Lastly, there could also maybe be a variety of people or even a group that look for people to possibly recognize on the wall before it picks up speed and more people know about it. In the end, this wall is a great idea because it can bring the school and/or community together, and people who aren’t usually recognized would be able to get the recognition they deserve; as well as, people would be able to become inspired from this wall resulting in possibly others wanting to “make it on the wall”.
What problems might we run into?
I believe there will be problems in creating a criteria since there are so many different things someone could be recognized for such as, community service, school service, academics, sports, etc. As well, there could be an issue of first where and how to exactly start the process of nominating/applying to be on the wall; the basic idea is: What’s a way to make the Wall of Pride something everyone knows about and wants to participant in? Also a price might be an issue since touchscreen TVs cost money, therefore cost is a big thing to talk about.
What skills do we need to complete this project? How can we attain these skills?
We need to be open to various ideas and build off of them since this is a way to bring the school together. Initiative is a needed skill because nothing was started without someone/a team taking charge and making it happen, appropriately. Finally, energy, simply put the want and drive to find a way to make it happen and have this energy to also solve problems along the way. All these skills are attainable, by creating a strong team of people with a variety of connections and/or skills. If anything, these skills can be learned by doing, therefore having said strong team, that is open to ideas, that like to create new things and/or helping others, will then create this Wall of Pride at Riverside a lot easier and faster.
Create a brief timeline of key things that need to happen to ensure successful completion of your project. What happens next?
First off, creating and meeting with the team (such as the Wall of Pride Team from Tech Team) is needed to then start making a criteria/application process, and this will lead to the base of the project where we will be able to start building and getting the word out about this wall. Secondly, the cost will have to be addressed about the touchscreen TVs (if we proceed with this idea). Then, when a strong base and core idea has been built, we will have to start implementing the actual idea – being this Wall of Pride. A panel of “judges” would have to be made to evaluate who would actually be put up on the wall and who wouldn’t be. Then, I would suggest to get the word out and start handing out the application/nomination link and/or what is decided, meaning that the wall will have a “first batch” of people to recognize and uploaded to the touchscreen TVs. As well as, a ceremony or assembly could be a factor of the wall if we wanted, since it was an idea talked about before. Lastly, we would just constantly have to keep up with the wall, meaning a specific team (such as the Wall of Pride Team from Tech Team) will have to be made and constantly (possibly weekly) talked to to and kept up to date, creating new ideas, talking about old ones, problem solving, and overall just knowing what is happening with the Wall of Pride and possibly the people being recognized and who might be recognized.
