Immigration Journal

Reflection:

I think my most successful thing about this project is the creative of the journal’s appearance. I crumpled the papers into a ball and then opened up. This way made my journal looked very old and had a sense of the old times. I wanted to change content of my journal. In this journal, I only told at that period the facts about the black slaves. I needed to change the facts into the separate stories and to add some emotions of the character that make it like the diary of a character. I learned many things while I completed the journal. I realized the black slaves had really hard life during that period. Although, it was difficult to live, they still had hope and desire for freedom. Upper Canada used a secret network of trails, “underground railway” to help the black slaves to escape. The underground railway not only meant freedom, but also meant for a new life. After doing this project, I have a better understanding about the history of the black slaves at mid-1800s.
