Tidal Energy

Part 1:

-Do we use tidal energy in Canada?

-Does it make a lot of energy?

-Does tidal energy use any fossil fuels?

-Does it make any emissions into the environment?

Do we use tidal energy in Canada?

Yes, we do, we have one tidal energy plant in Canada, it’s in the bay of Fundy in nova scotia. Canada is one of the few countries to use tidal energy.

Does it make a lot of energy?

The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world and Canada has been harnessing energy for almost 100 years. It’s been estimated that 2,500 Mega Watts a year have been extracted from the tidal powerplant since its opening back in 1984.

Does tidal energy use any fossil fuels?

Tidal energy replaces any uses of fossil fuels and uses the moon instead because it creates the tides.

Does it make any emissions into the environment?

Tidal energy doesn’t create any emissions into the environment because it’s using the flow of the water then releasing it back into the bay of Fundy making it one of the few renewable sources of power.

Recommendations to Justin Trudeau:

I would recommend building more tidal powerplants wherever possible because it makes no emissions into the environment and we have water surrounding Canada, so we have so many options on where to out one.

Part 2 Questions

-What questions did you need to research in order to research your topic?

I needed to research what tidal energy is, how the tidal energy works and if we had any in Canada and if so where.

-What new or familiar digital tools did you try to use as you worked through this project?

I used Google and YouTube to get my information.

-What was the process you used to investigate the topic?

I came up with my questions and researched them.

First, I googled what tidal energy is in the first place and then I looked up YouTube videos about the tidal energy

-How did you verify and cite the information you found?

I copied the links I got all my information on and verified it by only looking at reliable sources

-How did the prosses of completing this challenge go? What could you have done better?

The process was pretty easy to do but I could have looked more in-depth on my subject.
