It seems as if in the modern days, love is something that is rather easy to hear but very difficult to actually see.

The word love is thrown around so much and many times without meaning. (In the P.O.V. of a girl) It is especially seen through relationships that in the end, were never worth a penny. Relationships that were toxic, evil and bad.

Now to have a bad relationship you mus have one key component and in this case it is a Bad Boy. 

What is a bad boy you may ask? It is a guy who has no care for the other person in the relationship, though contains some very appealing characteristics, that girls fall for everytime.

In the book “Lord of the Flies” there was one especially evil character and that was Jack. Now here are the three main reasons why Jack is your average “Bad Boy”. (besides the fact that they both do bad/illegal things)

1. He is controlling

Something that is always appealing to girls is a man who knows what he is doing and is confident while doing it. Women admire this because they love the feeling of them getting jealous or mad if they (women) come home a little late than usual or when they talk to a different man. Women feel protected by them getting mad and jealous. More reasons, are that they do not know any better, feel as if this is the best that they can do and they are scared of them.

Jack slowly starts to take over the group of boys in the early chapters and then becomes full force ‘Chief’ by Chapter 8. He showed leadership in times of crisis when the other boys had no idea of what they could do. An example is when the “beast” was hiding up in the mountain and Ralph did not want to hunt it, while Jack did and promised to the boys that he’d catch and kill it. Bringing to them a sense of safety. That was something that the boys admired about Jack is that he was always capable of taking control and leading them in the “right direction”. Additionally, they are scared of Jack and fear that he might hurt them or even kill them if they tried to leave the tribe.

 

2. He has his benefits 

While Bad Boys are controlling and that may have many negatives, one thing they do have is a way to keep you with them. That way may be in the form of spoiling you every so often with presents and gifts to show his “affection” towards you.

In the “Lord of the Flies” there was one thing that Jack’s tribe possessed that Ralph’s did not. Meat! That was something that the boys loved about Jack is that they always received as much meat and drinks as they wanted. They were always fully nourished and hydrated. Furthermore, Jack also supplied them with the hope of finding the beast and some kind of feeling of safety, that Ralph ceased to provide.

 

3. He changes you / is hypnotizing

The final obvious traite of a “Bad Boy” is that he changes who you are. Your morals, personal interests and beliefs. When spending your time with a bad boy the main thing that a girl gets dragged into doing is always wanting to obey and impress them so they stay longer. The women will change anything for the boy that completely hypnotized her to point to not even notice the fact that she’s kneeling at his knees in obedience.

Likewise, Jack has changed and hypnotized the group of boys. Before Jack’s tribe they still had civil and grounded beliefs, thoughts and actions. However, when Jack’s inner beast finally had the time to shine and take charge, everyone else, so hypnotized by his leadership, changed as well. The boys looked at Jack as an all knowing Chief and truly thought that what he was doing was right and they got pulled in the wave of evilness and changed completely. Moreover, they obeyed Jack as if they were a pack of mindless dogs who waited to be pet.

In conclusion, we have gone over the three most common characteristics of the ever so known, modern day “Bad Boy”. We have also connected Jack to these characteristics to discover that Jack is in fact the baddest of the bad boys.

Watch out ladies, stay clear from Jack or else you’ll fall in his deep dark trap or never ending non-existent love!
