Macbeth: Why do people do evil knowing that it is evil?

Why do people do evil knowing that it’s evil?

cro3154-pvw

Once we are born we are taught the difference between right and wrong. However, as ironic as it is, evil is a quick and easy shortcut to many positive aspects in life. In William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, it is truly demonstrated the reasons behind knowingly evil actions. To any master plan, it is always ignited by an idea or hope. At the beginning of the play when Macbeth and Banquo find the witches, Macbeth is granted with a multiple prophecy’s, one of which stating that he will become king of Scotland. This sounds outrageous to the two men, though as a prophecy comes true (become thane of Cawdor), its hard to ignore the spark of hope and desire that is lit within Macbeth himself. As he sits and stirs with the small glance of hope he can’t help but ignore the glory of being king. To have something better than what one already has, is a thing that anyone would want. However, there are some who’s hunger and greed for greatness overpower their true senses: “I am thane of Cawdor. If good, why do I yield to that suggestion” (I,iii, 157-158). Macbeth is yearning for the magnificence of a king, he can’t disregard the building inpatient willpower to do whatever possible to achieve his goal. The fact that he realizes the fault in wanting to kill the king proves that human’s know it is wrong. Furthermore, proving that it is rather difficult to help but think and follow through on their evil notions. While the play goes on, and the plan to kill the king starts to elaborate, Macbeth’s cowardice takes control and he backs down from his original objective. Likewise, when one gets down or looses sight of their goal they often need someone there to push them to keep going. And that is exactly what Lady Macbeth does as she states, “Wouldst thou have that Which thou esteem’st the ornament of life, And live a coward in thine own esteem” (I, VII, 41-43). She begins to encourage and try to persuade him in to not giving up, though soon begins to insult him and his manhood. Hearing this Macbeth is not only surely offended but disappointed in himself for letting his wife down. Whilst Lady Macbeth sustained her rant for a king’s glorified life, she manages to inspire his will to not only get the crown but impress his wife and prove his manhood. When the blood thirst play comes to an end, our eyes now see how aspiration, avarice and peer pressure can lead someone to willingly act in the name of the devil. At then of the day, humans are the most selfish beings to ever walk the face of the earth.

Re-reading the essay I found that I did very well with intergrading the quotes. I never had any quote bombs and they always flowed nicely with the sentence. Additionally, they always matched well with my arguments and mad the sentence stronger. Moreover, I found that my conclusion was very well written. I rewrote my thesis if anything in a better way than it was stated in my introduction and I had a very intriguing least sentence.

While, I did do somethings that were good, I also had many things that i didn’t do so well on. One of those things was my thesis in my introduction. I tried to make it too deep but it ended up being very confusing and it was hard to depict on who I thought was responsible for the destruction of the island. Finally, the last thing that I can do better for next time is my writing. I did not have words that had a deep meaning they were very plain and basic. Not to mention I misspelled many words and failed to keep it in present tense.

Overall I believe I did pretty good but am aware of my mistakes and will for sure keep them in mind for next time.

Macbeth Intro

“Blood will have blood”
Do you believe in revenge? Why?

I do not believe in revenge. From the moment I was born I was taught about karma, the ups and downs of it. My mother has always said that every good dead comes with good karma and every bad dead brings bad karma. The good karma may not come in a way that you see but it does come (ex/ good health, being recognized for your efforts in school). If anyone was to do wrong upon me, I fully believe that the world would bring back the wrong that they gave out. Furthermore, I also believe that two wrongs do not make a right. How am I different than the one who started it all if I perform the same actions as they did? At the end of the day we are both acting wrongfully and no one is better than the other in this situation. It is easier to drop down to their standards but more powerful to stick by your morals and rise above all the negative. Finally, the world already has too much hate and I believe a little forgiveness will do no harm (of course depending on what occurred). In the end, karma will find its way and going to bed at night knowing you were the bigger person always helps you sleep.

^^ Here is my lab up above! ^^

——————

In this lab we weighed and heated different hydrates to figure out how much water was lost. As you can see down below this was our set up for both hydrates that we used.

Here is us weighing the crucible and lid by its self because we needed to know how much we had to subtract from the number we received after heating.

img_9907

This is how we measured the hydrates. (Hydrate A below)

The hydrate was then put into the crucible and heated for the first time. It was heating for 5 minutes until wee took it off to cool down for 10 minutes. After it was done cooling down we measured it and then stuck it back to be heated for a final time. We did this twice to make sure that all the possible water was out.

img_9904

Hydrate C did not have much of an ‘explosion’ though it did change from blue to white and they all stuck together after the first heating. Here is what Hydrate C looked like after the first heating:

img_9960

For Hydrate A, it had more of an ‘explosion’ while heating as the contents flung to the sides of the walls of the crucible. Here is what Hydrate A looked like after the second heating:

img_9905

As you can tell the overall mass of before and after did change though not by a drastic amount which makes sense because water was the only thing that was diminished. (Hydrate A below)

That was our Hydrate Lab. We collected all of our data and then cleaned up our station!
