Exponent Law Summary


Multiplication: That they must have the same base and instead of multiplying the exponents you add them.

x^2\cdot x^5 = x^7

Division: That they must have the same base and instead of dividing the exponents you subtract them.

x^{12}\div x^4 = x^8

Power:

(x^3)^6 = x^{18}

Negative:

\frac{1}{x^{-4}} = x^4
