Run Abbie Run!
Abbie notices that mellow music brings down her energy. She decides to test it out by running colony farms three times with upbeat music and three times with mellow music. She makes sure that she gets the same amount of sleep each night before her runs. The average of her runs with upbeat music is 27.5 minutes, compared to 31 minutes with mellow music.
- What is the problem Abbie wanted to investigate? If music effects her energy.
- What is the independent variable? The music
- What is the dependent variable? The time of her run
- What should Abbie’s conclusion be? Running with upbeat music improves the time of her runs, therefore brings up her energy.
- How could Abbie improve her experimental design? Abbie could have done more trials, she could have controlled what she ate before her runs, made sure she wore the same thing each time, made sure it was the same weather, made sure she was in the same mood before each run and drank the same amount of water.
