Mutation story

Part 1: mutation story

Cri du chat, also known as 5p- syndrome is a mutation when chromosome 5 is missing. When children have this syndrome their voice is often so high pitched that it sounds like a cat. Some other side effects are delayed development, small head size, very low birth weight and intellectual disability. Also face features give you the appearance of a cat. On a rare occasion some children that are born with Cri du chat also have heart defect.

Emily lohanne was born with Cri du chat syndrome. She was born underweight with little muscle tone and an extremely small head size. Not only that, but she also has heart defect. She is missing one of her chromosome 5 and that is what is causing all these defects. She most likely did not inherit this syndrome from one of her parents. She will need a team of people helping her throughout her life that consists of her parents, doctors, therapists and educational professional. She also has an extremely high pitched voice and will need speech therapy. Her life has been challenging because she not only has internal disabilities but her face looks very much like a cat. It is hard for her to be in big social events due to her disability.

Part 2: making the mutation story

In order to write my mutation story I had to consult multiple pages that talk about the disability. The commonly answered questions on the pages were, “What are the symptoms of cri du chat syndrome?” or “What is cri du chat syndrome?”. To figure out how to do this project I first asked myself the question. Next I acquired the necessary sites to find the informing needed. Then I analyzed each site looking for useful facts. I then applied the Information I found into a mutation story. Finally, I assessed my story by re reading it and correcting it making sure it was good. These tools we’re new to me. To verify the information I was getting was good, I checked on multiple trustworthy sites to make sure the information was correct. The process of creating this story was somewhat simple because I have done things like this before. So it came naturally.
