Taming of the Shrew Stop Motion Induction Scene Project

The Taming of the Shrew written by Shakespeare, is a play that includes an induction and an inset. Matt and I have created a stop motion to show what is going on in the first scene and to explain the difference between an induction and an inset. The induction is when Christopher Sly is picked up from the bar by the Lord who then decides to pull a prank on him. While setting up the prank, players arrive at the door begging for a place to stay in exchange for them presenting a play. After Sly wakes up, the page is introduced. The players then enter and commence their play which is “The Taming of the Shrew”. As soon as the play begins, so does the inset. We are watching a play within a play. The stop motion technology is a hard way of demonstrating the difference between the two because we cannot use lighting to our advantage. The best thing we could do is slide the induction characters to one side and let the inset characters take over. The hardest thing about this project was positioning. Making sure our devices were placed in the exact same spot as they were the last time we filmed was very challenging. Also, moving the characters while filming was difficult because sometimes they would fall over or break. The main thing that I learned from this project is that patience is key. Without having patience, this project would have been impossible.

The sound effects are sick XD and your drawings of the people in the video are very creative!

The stop motion was well done and I like the comedic touches they added to the induction of the stop motion.

What I really like about your stop motion work is how well your narration and character voices work together. Great work on writing an excellent reflection to debrief your experience!
