In groups of two or three, complete the following, but make sure you have your own notes:
Review the good theme statements from our discussion of FEC:
a) Social change can happen with the small actions of dedicated individuals. OR
b) A movement seldom happens overnight. For the most part, a change in attitude is brought about by small actions.
Examine Gandalf’s quote. How does Gandalf’s quote relate to FEC and what Miss Ralston did? Brainstorm.
What is meant by small acts of kindness that are courageous in their own way? Brainstorm some concrete examples from everyday life.
Who has been at the forefront of positive change in our society (school, community, world) but is an ordinary person? (not a celebrity etc.) Brainstorm.
Review the theme statements; with a partner, go over them and determine which ones work best according to the rules; which ones do you think capture the big idea of FEC? This is due today in class for review. Document is in the SS Eng 9 tab
